Wayland Baptist’s Kaylee Edgemon has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Edgemon led the No. 8 Flying Queens (4-0) to a pair of road wins, 83-70 over Jarvis Christian and 92-71 over LSU-Alexandria.

She scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season against Jarvis, then against LSU-Alexandria Edgemon dumped in 28 points with seven boards. The 28 points represent Edgemon’s second-best offensive output as a Flying Queen, behind only the 30 she scored last November against Science & Arts of Oklahoma.

Combined, Edgemon hit 51 percent of her shots from the field (21-of-41), including 11-of-17 (65 percent) against LSU-Alexandria, and 80 percent of her free throws (8-of-10).

A senior forward from Littlefield, Edgemon is a three-time NAIA All-American. She has notched three 20-plus point games and is averaging 21.8 points on a 52.8 percent shooting clip.

Edgemon and the Flying Queens will try for the 1,700th victory in Flying Queens history when they make their home debut at 7 p.m. Thursday against No. 23 Loyola (La.).
