The Flying Queens wrapped up the regular season in February going 5-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play and finishing second to Langston University for the SAC regular season title. The two teams were in a dogfight for first place until February 17 in Point Lookout, MO., when College of the Ozarks scored 22 points in the fourth quarter to slip by the Queens 75-72. For the regular season, the Queens finished 24-3 overall and 21-3 in SAC play.
The team opened SAC Tournament play against John Brown University on Feb.27, winning 92-75. Next up is a semi-final matchup against Mid-American Christian University (MACU) on Monday, March 3, starting at 3:00 pm. The Queens defeated MACU in tough battle, 77-74, on Feb. 20 at the Hutch.
The winner will advance to the Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship game to face off against the winner of (1) Langston vs. (4) College of the Ozarks on Tuesday, March 4th at 5:30 PM.
Junior Megan Nestor and Graduate Kaitlyn Jerden provided key firepower for the Queens in February. Nester averaged 22.8 points and 14.3 rebounds over the six games while Jerden averaged 21.2 points.
