A crucial element in the Hutcherson Flying Queens Foundation, Inc. is its database. Without it the Foundation could not reach out to former players, coaches, managers, trainers, and to extended members of the Claude Hutcherson and Harley Redin families.
The membership committee’s primary role is to grow the database. This includes 1) contacting individuals with incomplete information, 2) creating teams of former players from different coaching eras to complete a list of their teammates missing from the database, and 3) helping to promote the Foundation’s membership campaigns.
Qualifications
If you cherished your Flying Queens experience, love staying in touch with your teammates, and enjoy meeting people, you would enjoy serving on the Membership Committee!
Time Commitment
We have an immediate need to update the incomplete names in the database. That will involve making phone calls and other data mining strategies. This could take up to a few hours a week.
Building a list of names from coaching eras that are missing from the database will involve creating teams of former players from a respective coaching era and finding a meeting time. This could happen in person or via Zoom. The team would review the list of players not in the database and update the contact information for the names the team has information on. These individuals will be contacted to ask approval to add their name and information to the database.
Leanne South, 2nd vp – membership/marketing
One of the cool things about working with membership has been meeting the Queens on whose shoulders me and my teammates stood during our time as a Flying Queen. I had a great time meeting the 2021-22 Queens at the 1700-win reception, and that experience makes me want to meet more of the younger Queens! If you love meeting smart, talented young ladies and love hearing great Queens’ stories from the 1950s on, you will love volunteering on the membership committee!
