The “$8600 for 86 years” fundraiser honoring Coach Dean Weese has exceeded its goal after the first two weeks of the six-week event. The current total stands at $9,583.

“With four weeks remaining in the fundraiser, and knowing there are other individuals who still play to give, we decided to be aggressive and double our goal from $8,600 to $17,200,” said Kathy Booth Loter, 2nd vice president for fundraising and social activities for the Hutcherson Flying Queens Foundation. “The experiences, friendships, and life lessons players gain under incredible coaches such as Dean Weese, are priceless gifts. One way we can express our thanks is through events such as this tribute fundraiser.”

Loter says the goal for the next two weeks is to follow up with former players, coaches, and colleagues who had been contacted during the first week of the fundraiser.

“To those who responded in the first two weeks and made a gift, thank you for your generosity and for sharing your love and respect for this legendary coach,” said Valerie Goodwin-Colbert, 1st vice president of the Foundation.

If you have been thinking about making a gift, there’s still time. Deadline for giving is Friday, Sept. 24.
