A date for Wayland Baptist University’s Athletics Hall of Honor postponed induction has been set…again.

The ceremony to induct the 2020 class of longtime supporters Joe and Freda Provence, former athletics director Dr. Sylvia Nadler, veteran baseball coach Brad Bass, all-American high jumper Kim (Kayler) Clemmons and standout baseball player Todd Jeffress – as well as recognize Harley Redin Coach’s Award winner Tim Thomas – will take place Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, in conjunction with Wayland’s Fall Fling.

The induction ceremony originally was scheduled to take place Nov. 7, 2020, but was postponed in response to the COVID-19 restrictions limiting on-campus gatherings. The induction was rescheduled for Feb. 20, 2021, in conjunction with WBU’s homecoming celebration before officials decided to postpone it again as the pandemic lingered.

Officials considered holding an online, virtual induction but at the suggestion of and/or in agreement with all of the Hall of Honor inductees, WBU officials decided to postpone the ceremony again, this time indefinitely until such time the event could be held in-person.

The Nov. 7, 2021, induction is tentatively scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021, inside the Laney Center. Other Fall Fling home athletics events scheduled for that date include the final regular-season home games for both volleyball (vs. Oklahoma City University at 11 a.m.) and football (vs. Ottawa, Ariz., at 2 p.m.).
