The Foundation’s Team Support function involves 1) building HFQF membership in and around the Plainview area, 2) engaging with the current Flying Queens players about the Queens heritage, and 3) representing the HFQF at Wayland Baptist University functions related to athletics, and especially the Queens.
From Darla Ford, 2nd vp – team support
“I’m proud to give my time to the Foundation because of my Flying Queens experience. In my role overseeing team support, I get to interact with the current team and coaches, help with funding requests, and help celebrate their successes in continuing the Flying Queens legacy. I would love to see former coaches, players, managers, and trainers volunteer on the team support committee. It is a rewarding way to give back.
Desired Qualifications
The Team Support Committee is looking for individuals who have an affinity for the Flying Queens program and are ready like to give back with their time.
Time Commitment
Most of the Team Support’s work takes place during Wayland’s academic year. A lot of what this committee does for the Queens is planned after reviewing the upcoming game schedule and visiting with Coach Cooper. Often Team Support serves as the liaison between the Foundation and the team to help streamline the lines of communication.
In the past, the committee has hosted the team for Thanksgiving and other team gatherings, coordinated recognition and a reception for program milestones, such as the 1600-and 1700-wins for the program. Former Queens have hosted a team meal while other former players have attended games when the Queens are in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
