McPHERSON, Kan. – Five players scored in double figures and Wayland Baptist hit 11 3-pointers as the No. 2 Flying Queens rolled to a 106-39 Sooner Athletic Conference victory over Central Christian here Thursday night.

Undefeated Wayland (7-0, 5-0 SAC) led the Tigers (2-12, 0-6), 28-7 after the first quarter. The Flying Queens were up 42-15 the half then recorded 32 points in each of the third and fourth quarters.

Sophomore Jessica Medcalf, who scored 27 points all of last season and hadn’t scored this season in any of her three appearances, exploded for 14 points, including four 3s. Kaylee Edgemon added 12 points, Ashlyn Shelley 11, and Jenna Cooper and Payton Brown 10 each. All 12 Flying Queens scored, with 11 of them getting at least seven points.

Wayland shot 51 percent (42-of-83) from the field, including 38 percent (11-of-29) 3s. The Flying Queens outrebounded the Tigers, 59-41, with freshman Kaylee Rendon pulling down a team-best nine boards to go with her nine points.

Kassidy Forsberg led Central Christian with nine points. The Tigers shot just 20 percent (15-of-74) from the field and 8 percent (2-of-25) from distance.

Wayland returns to play at 2 p.m. Saturday in Oklahoma against Langston (4-2, 2-2), which defeated Oklahoma-Panhandle State on Thursday, 81-69.
