The Flying Queens finished 5-1 for the month of December with a road win over Our Lady of the Lake Univeristy (OLLU), 72-58 in San Antonio on Dec. 29. The team only suited up nine players with two players injured and one at home with the flu but posted a strong second half and finished with four players scoring in double figures led by Megan Nestor’s 18 points. Also scoring were Linda Brice with 15 points (and five steals), Bobbie Fouquet with 13 points, and Taylor Houston, who finished with a double-double – 12 points and 10 rebounds. Also playing a key role was point quard Emily Segala who finished with seven points to go with seven assists.

The Queens lone loss came against SAC opponent John Brown on December 9. Other SAC wins came against Southwestern Christian University, Oklahoma City University, and Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Non-conference wins came against Northern New Mexico University and OLLU.

A key highlight of the month was Megan Nestor’s record-setting 22 rebound performance against Northern New Mexico. The rebound mark was the most in a single game in Flying Queens history, breaking the previous record of 20 rebounds in a game grabbed by Ulla Madison on February 2, 1995.

The Queens’ overall record stands at 9-2 and 4-1 in SAC play. The Queens returns to SAC play on January 4 against the University of Arts and Sciences (Okla.) .
