The threat of inclement weather has caused the cancellation of multiple Wayland Baptist University events in the coming days. They include this week’s basketball games at Oklahoma City and Southwestern Christian, baseball games against Peru St. (Neb.), and a junior varsity baseball doubleheader at Cisco College. The cancellations also include Monday’s women’s and men’s soccer matches at McMurry.

The No. 2 Flying Queens and Pioneers were scheduled to play at OCU on Thursday night and at SCU on Saturday afternoon.

The Flying Queens’ game against No. 14 OCU, as well as another rescheduled game between those teams earlier this week, previously was cancelled due to COVID-19 issues.

Now, the Flying Queens’ game against SCU as well as the Pioneers’ games at OCU and SCU are cancelled due to inclement weather and possible dangerous travel conditions being forecast.

The next scheduled action for Wayland basketball are home games on Feb. 18 against USAO and on Feb. 20 against Mid-America Christian to end the regular-season.

Meanwhile, the Pioneer baseball team’s four-game home series this weekend against Peru St. (Neb.) was cancelled.

Next for WBU baseball is a three-game series against Sterling College (Kan.), with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19 followed by a single game at noon Saturday, Feb. 20.

The men’s and women’s soccer teams were slated to play Monday afternoon in Abilene against McMurry, but those games have been cancelled. The teams’ next scheduled matches are Saturday, Jan. 20 at home against Houston-Victoria at noon (women) and 2 p.m. (men).
