In the midst of a hot, dry summer, golfers and former Queens gathered for what turned out to be a beautiful day at the Hutcherson Flying Queens Foundation Golf Tournament, held on August 28, 2023 at the Texas Star Golf Course in Euless, Texas.

Why We Golf

More than 50 golfers and a dozen teams participated to raise money to support the Wayland Baptist Flying Queens basketball team. A special thanks goes out to the golfers, former Queens, friends, and supporters who bought 35 $100 hole sponsorships.

The Foundation netted more than $9,000 to support the Flying Queens during the 2023-24 season.

This year marked the sixth time Texas Star Golf Course hosted the tournament and the seventh year the Foundation has hosted the golf tournament has been held as a major fundraiser.

the night before the tournament . .

Several former Queens joined other Wayland alumni for a Blue and Gold Alumni event at Saltgrass Steakhouse. The group heard an update on the university from Wayland President Bobby Hall and news about alumni events and some new opportunities from Jeffrey Vera, director of alumni affairs. Vera even brought a team to the golf tournament!
