Plainview, Texas – Wayland Baptist Flying Queen Megan Nestor has been named NAIA Third Team All-American and NCCAA Third Team All-American for her record breaking 2023-24 season.

Nestor, a 6’4 post from Canaries, St. Lucia, had an outstanding sophomore season that featured her setting three new Flying Queens records for rebounding. She broke the previous records of total rebounds in a season (371), rebounds in a single game (20), and average rebound per game in a season (11.1).

For the 2023-24 season, Nestor averaged 15.9 points, 13.5 rebounds, 56% shooting from the floor, 1.9 steals, and 1 block. She had a record-breaking performance on January 20th when the Queens hosted the Lions of Langston University, and Nestor went for 32 points, 24 rebounds (a new Flying Queen record), 11-16 shooting from the floor, and 10-14 from the free throw line.

In the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, Nestor helped the Queens upset 6-seeded Columbia College (Mo.) by scoring 19 points, grabbing 18 rebounds including 10 offensive boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line.

Nestor dominated Sooner Athletic Conference play and was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Year and SAC All-Sooner Athletic First Team.

Nestor’s development over the past year has been extraordinary to say the least. She went from averaging 0.9 points per game in very limited minutes as a true freshman to 15.9 points per game in prominent minutes as a sophomore.
